No. 09/2016 17 May 2016

TO ALL BRANCHES WITH TELEFONICA MEMBERS

Dear Colleagues,

O2 Stores - Academy

Further to briefing 06/2016 which reported that the CWU had met O2 to raise concerns regarding the Stores Academy, a further meeting has taken place in which we received an update.

Action so far is as follows;

·  O2 have spoken to all employees that are eligible which are those that are high performers or outstanding many in Store where they have been assisted in the process for preparing a submission

· During each store visit the Territory Trainer has checked Academy progress and there has been ongoing education with the teams.

·  Ongoing meetings regarding understanding of the Academy, accreditation and the role of the leader e.g.

- Sales advisor, talent day

- Succession programme in Inner/Outer London.

·  Regional Store Leader and Assistant Store Leader meetings.

To-date thepeople that are high/outstanding performer level and O2 are proactively working with them on their development to ensure readiness for Mid-Year review window.

There is also work within the Regions to identify Academy champions to encourage focus.

This work is ongoing as new starters join to the business and new people who enter Advanced level.

Clearly the results show that there has been progress since we raised our concerns in February with advisors with the ratings being able to work their way through the process to accreditation. However, the CWU will continue to monitor the progress and to engage the management in ongoing dialogue.

CWU Survey

In February this year the CWU sent out a survey to all CWU members working in the Stores at their home addresses asking them to provide feedback regarding the Academy.

I would like to thank all CWU members that participated in the survey.

At our recent meeting with O2, the results were presented to the Head of Stores where we stated that there still remains work to be done regarding motivating and encouraging employees to take part in the Academy and to work their way through the modules.

Also, the survey still indicated that insufficient support was in place and yet again that pressure was being applied to individuals to complete the modules in their own time despite the assurances that had previously be given.

The result of this survey was discussed at length and the findings have been taken onboard by O2 and they have agreed to discuss these with the Territory Leaders to ensure that the right messages, support, education is given to advisors to encourage and support them during the Academy.

As reported The CWU will continue to monitor and track the progress of the Academy and any comments you may have need to be fed back to your branch or directly to your local representative or at

Yours sincerely

Sally Bridge
