Motion by Gray to leave the Chair and Vice-Chair for 2016 as it is (Mike Stupka as Chair and Dean Gray as Vice-Chair), second by Madsen. Carried unanimously.

Chair Stupka opened the Public Hearing for the Variance Request. Claremont Township applied for a Variance to put a post and beam building 15’ into the right-of-way. They are proposing to build a 54 x 72 building on the corner of Front Street and Main Street. Since Main Street is 100’ wide, they would like to be 15’ into the right-of-way. The maximum height of buildings in that district is 40’, which they will be way under. No one present had any comments or concerns and City Hall did not receive any comments or concerns. Chair Stupka closed the Public Hearing. Motion by Gray to recommend to the City Council to approve the Variance as requested, second by Madsen. Carried unanimously.

A building permit application was received for 343 S Elm Street for solar installation. It will be on the top oftheir shed. Liz checked the ordinance and they meet the requirements of city code. Gray asked Liz and Gary to check to make sure they will stay off the right-of-way or get a right-of-way permit and check the area where they will be trenching to make sure they won’t be going through any lines.

A man from Northfield called City Hall about the old Claremont Depot. His dad passed away and had worked or owned a train company and has the old Claremont Depot from 1880. He said if the City wants the building they can come and get it. Chair Stupka stated he was going to that area this weekend and he would take pictures and see what it looks like, size, the shape it’s in, etc. If the Council doesn’t want it, the Historical Society would be contacted to see if they are interested.

Motion byButlerto adjourn at 7:03 p.m., second byMadsen. Carried unanimously.
