JOB TITLE: CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM COORDINATOR
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree, three years work experience in a related field
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Child Nutrition Services
SUPERVISES: Staff as assigned
JOB GOAL: Assists in planning, organizing, and directing all phases of the
Child Nutrition Program
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts on behalf of the Child Nutrition Program Supervisor in her absence.
Coordinates Area Managers, Managers and administrative staff in the implementation and interpretation of policies and regulations.
Assists in planning and conducting monthly managers meetings.
Coordinates training and hiring of Child Nutrition Program Personnel.
Assists with required school site visits.
Assists the Supervisor, Area Managers and Managers in handling personnel problems, emergency situations and in maintaining the integrity of the school cafeterias.
Assists in preparing and publishing centralized menus for the lunch, breakfast, snack, and summer feeding programs; plans special diets and services as needed.
Assists in preparing specifications for all food, supplies, and equipment purchased for the food service operation and assists in evaluating bid proposals for food, supplies and equipment.
Meets with vendors to receive new product information and conducts evaluations on sample products.
Serves as an advisor for the professional organization for child nutrition personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics, or other related food service area. Three years of experience in Nutrition, Dietetics, Home Economics or related food service, preferably in a school or institutional setting; or any equivalent combination of acceptable experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
Considerable knowledge of effective management, methods, practices, and procedures relating to large scale food preparation and service.

Considerable knowledge of dietary standards and nutritional needs of school age children.
Ability to coordinate, organize and direct a child nutrition program.
Ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures pertaining to a child nutrition program.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials and administrators, staff, representatives of private and governmental organizations, parents, and the general public.
