First Year Fellowship & Leadership Training Fact Sheet
PURPOSE: To provide an opportunity for Christian college students to: (1) gather for weekly fellowship, (2) examine the ministry of Young Life, and (3) discover whether you should be a Young Life Leader during college.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Desire to follow Jesus Christ and a heart to share the Gospel.
· Attend Young Life First Year Fellowship weekly.
· Be active in a Bible study (let us know if you need help finding one!)
· Attend Young Life Leadership (usually on Fridays and some Sundays) whenever possible.
· Be open to the possibility of being a Young Life leader in college.
· Attend our region’s Leader Committee Weekend at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV (January 26-28, 2007).
SCHEDULE:
First Semester: First Year Fellowship
· Fellowship; Bible study; Biblical basis for Young Life’s methods; Getting to know the area (schools, leaders, etc.)
Second Semester: Leadership Training
· Learn “why we do what we do” – the ins and outs of Young Life ministry methods: Contact Work (getting to know kids); Club (big outreach meeting); Campaigners (weekly Bible study for high schoolers); and Camp
SCRIPTURE TO CONSIDER:
John 4:35-36
I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.
Matthew 28:18-20
18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
