Advisory Committee Meeting
Wednesday November 15th 2017
Attendees:
Dani Gorman (YSB Director), Jody Nazarchyk (Chairperson), Chris Gigliotti, Ron Fedor, Ellen Bellos (Vice-Chairperson), Michael Cristofaro, Dottie Concascia, Shelia Cash, Quinn Ryan, Emma Brown, Kerry Sullivan and Lisa Sachatello

Call to Order:
Chairperson Jody Nazarchyk called the meeting to order at 5:36pm and a quorum was established.
Public Input:
None
Motion #1
S. Cash made a motion to approve the minutes from September 20th 2017. M. Cristofaro secondedthe motion.Vote was unanimous.
Correspondence:
D. Gorman reported a list of donations from the Regional Lions of $10 Stop & Shop cards, James Dimmock donated $100 for holiday baskets, Jennifer Bloach donated toiletries for holiday baskets, Jennifer Bonanno donated canned goods and $250 gift cards for the holidays, Oswegatchie Elementary School donated $91.00 for dress down day, Waterford High School donated $139.00 for Thanksgiving dinners and Clark Lane Middle School donated $90.00 for dress down day. K. Sullivan made a motion to approve the donations. E. Bellos seconded. Vote was unanimous. D. Gorman handed out flyers for an upcoming fundraiser for mental health services ‘Frost & Flannel’ at Filomena’s on Thursday, December 7th at 7:00pm.
Program Report:
C. Gigliotti reported Stuff the Bus was held on Thursday, November 9th and received an incredible amount of canned goods and non-perishable items from each school for the Holiday program. The Youth Services bus trip to New York City on Saturday, December 9th is full as is the Breakfast with Santa program on Sunday, December 10th. Youth Services will be participating in the Niantic Light Parade on Saturday, December 9th and it is the last week for the mental health after-school program ‘Inside Out’.
Student Report:
Q. Ryan reported on Saturday, November 18th is the Turkey Trot 5K road race for the senior class and on Friday, the 17th is ‘Hat Day’ if you bring in $2.00 you can wear a hat to school, all money raised goes to research for a child cancer foundation. Q. Ryan also reported today were auditions for the next school play. E. Brown reported all fall sports except football has come to an end and the Key Club will be doing a blood drive on Friday, November 17th and muffins will be given to donors.
Directors Report:
D. Gorman reported her annual report is due and distributed to the board. Discussion ensued. Gorman reported that the possibility of adding a new position to Youth Services will not occur at this time and Red Cross is moving out but the exact date of when they will leave is stilluncertain. Gorman mentioned to the board issues brought to her attention regarding storage in the basement. Discussion ensued. Gorman discussed the start of a Youth & Family Support Center Board which will begin in December consisting of 7 members appointed from schools, police and the community to help and assist children with truancy issues. Gorman finally reported on purchasing Lancer Nation t-shirts which will be distributed to families who have applied to our holiday program in memory of a young man who recently passed away.
Financial report:
D. Gorman reported Youth Services is in the black and she is continuing to prepare her budget and there will be an increase because a union settled a contract and the other union is still in negotiations. Gorman reported everything else stayed the same. Gorman lastly reported she would be sending each member the budget when completed.
WADE Coalition Report:
D. Gorman reported Dancing with the Stars is in preparation and will be held on March 23rd at the Waterford High School between Waterford, East Lyme and New London. Gorman also reported the Local Prevention Council grant has not come in yet and the state budget has passed but money has not been received.

New Business:
D. Gorman reported Youth Services will be collaborating with the Waterford Police Department and Firefighters for Shop with a Cop, a program where 20 children in need will be paired with police officers and firefighters to spend $100 at Target to shop for the holidays for themselves.

K. Sullivan made the motion to adjourn the meeting. S. Cash seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous.
