I am interested in applying for a teaching position in Special Education in Horry County Schools. I will graduate from Coastal Carolina University in May 2017, with a degree in Special Education, multi-categorical. I will also have add-on certification in Elementary Educations and Severe/Profound Special Education. I am seeking an employment opportunity where I can enrich the lives of children.
It has been a dream of mine to become a teacher since I was in elementary school. My third grade teacher impacted the formation of this dream by encouraging and believing in my abilities. She challenged me to always do my personal best while being there to support me along the way. She became my role model due to her passion for teaching. This dream has been impacted by a friendship formed between myself and a little boy in Elementary School who had Down Syndrome. Him being a part of my life formed a calling as well as experiences I have had with working with students with special needs. I have enjoyed volunteering my time with the Special Olympics Organization of Horry County, being a part of the Aynor Special Needs Family Fun Day, and participating in the Joy Prom for special needs students. While participating in these events the individuals have enriched my life more than they will ever know.
During my student teaching and internships, I have been able to be a part of multiple types of opportunities in the special education departments throughout Horry County School District in all different age ranges. It would be a great opportunity to be able to be part of your special education team. I would be honored to be chosen to be a part of your school in the first step of my teaching career.
