MINUTES OF THE MARCH 13, 2008 NTAPT MEETING

CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH, TX

The March 13, 2008, NTAPT meeting was hosted by Carrollton-Farmers Branch. The meeting was called to order by President Thomas Campbell at 10:30 a.m. The board members that were present are listed below:

Mr. Campbell welcomed everyone to the March meeting. All new people were welcomed and introduced. The vendors were thanked and recognized next.

Donna McGuire, the transportation director for Carrollton-Farmers Branch and the host, welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked everyone for attending.

Mr. Campbell then announced that Carl Cater would be the auditor this year for the NTAPT finances.

The committee reports were next.

Lou Autry started off with the speech contest. Royse City had the only entries and they will be going to Austin for the state wide speech contest.

The scholarship report was given by Christie Hooper. She reported that 8 applications were received and will be considered over the spring break by her committee. The winners will be announced at the April NTAPT meeting.

There was some discussion as to the number of vendor scholarships that will be awarded. Also, there was a motion that passed that if a scholarship is not claimed a year from the date that the scholarship was awarded that the money will revert back to NTAPT.

Mike Williams, the chairman of the nominating committee gave his report. The nominations for the officers of NTAPT for the 2008-2009 school year are listed below:

President Mike Horn – Mesquite ISD

President Elect Carl Cater – Allen ISD

Secretary Christie Hooper – Plano ISD

Treasurer Linda Berrier – Dallas County Schools

Historian Harry Russell – Plano ISD

Phil Gurke – Grand Prairie ISD

Tammy Loveless – Royse City ISD

The floor was then opened for nominations. There were none and the nominations were closed. Mike Williams and his committee, Manny Rubio, Oscar Robertson, and Joe Patterson will present their slate at the April meeting.

Jim Humphries, the road-eo chairman, gave his report. The registration forms are on the NTAPT website. The cutoff for road-eo registration is April 10, 2008 at the Denton ISD meeting. A power point presentation will be sent out to all directors concerning the road-eo.

Mr. Humphries then said that Allen ISD will let the transit buses practice there and to contact Carl Cater at 972-727-0542 to set up a practice time. All conventional buses wishing to practice can do so at Garland ISD but please contact Thomas Campbell at 972-487-4947 to schedule a time. Please be sure to tell your drivers to wear their district identification badges.

Mike Williams then introduced Mike Davis as the new area director at the Lawnview Service Center.

Mike Horn introduced the vendor host which was Paul Carroll of Vulocity. Mr. Carroll gave a short presentation on his products such as GPS monitoring solutions.

Lunch was served and after lunch, the votes were counted and poster contest winners were announced. The list is below of the poster contest winners.

2nd place - Kyle walker , Johnson Elementary, Carroll ISD

3rd place - Lily Derr, Taylor Elementary, Colleyville ISD

Division II

1st place - Kali Bolta, Hickey Elementary, Plano ISD

2nd place - Gioranna Veiga, Johnson Elementary, Southlake ISD

3rd place - Lauren Taylor, Bear Creek Elementary, Euless ISD

Division III

1st place - Chastin Smith, McDaniel MS, Denison

2nd place - AQil Mohozahir, Schimelphenig MS, Plano ISD

3rd place - ?

Division IV

1st place - Kerry HAll, Roundtree, Allen ISD

2nd place - Alexis Tate, McDaniel, Denison ISD
