Network Rail Presentation
Following the recent pause in the proposed work to higher bridges in and around Sutton Bonington work is to begin on Station Road bridge, Sutton Bonington and Bowley’s Bridge in Normanton on Soar in August this year. It is further proposed that work on the other bridges will follow at a later day with all work being completed by 2023.
Work to Bowley’s bridge is to commence on 23rd August through to the 17th March with temporary road restrictions a full road closure will be between 14th October and 3rd February. Diversions will be via Rempstone Road and Leake Lane. Nottinghamshire County Council are still to approve the proposed diversions and should be talking to the Parish prior to any approval. Network Rail will conduct a letter drop to all residents informing them of the proposed work and road closures. It was proposed that boards be erected giving notice of the road closures. Network Rail will be organizing a ‘drop in’ centre once the site has been established.
It is anticipated that work on the Station Road bridge will take place between 8th September until 17th March 2017 although dates are still to be confirmed due to some land issues still to be sorted out with the relevant landowners.
Network Rail were informed of the village show dates and were asked not to bring the dates forward for the Station Road bridge taking into account the amount of traffic coming to the village show. It was proposed that Network Rail attend the Village Show to give information to residents, leaflets are to be left at the Parish Council stand.
Network Rail confirmed that there is no news at present regarding Marle Pit Hill and that the Parish Council will be involved in the initial discussions. Concern was raised regarding the design of the bridge and the raising of the parapets which would mean loss of visibility for vehicles travelling east.
There will be disruptive possessions on the railway between 12th & 14th November.

16.91Matters Arising
1)Item 16.75/1 – Station Road crossroads – there have been 5 slight injury accidents in the last three years which has triggered off an investigation as part of the Rural Junction Data Trawl. This will take place during 2016 and any recommended improvements that they feel would be useful, that can’t be justified on accident remedial grounds, will be looked at under the minor works budget. Nottinghamshire County Council will keep the Parish Council informed.
Action
Letter to Nottinghamshire County Council to consider resurfacing/changing the ‘Give Way’ sign on Station Road whilst it is closed, which would reduce the costs.
2)Item 16.89/3 – April 2013 – March 2016 there have been no aircraft fined for flying off route, between 1st January to 31st March the following fines have been issued:

16.93 Planning
Comments submitted by residents regarding planning application 22.16 were circulated.
22.16 / Park Farm House14 Park Lane
Sutton Bonington / Continued use of former dwelling house as house in multiple occupation / Object. The Parish Council fully support residents objections. Unacceptable impact and loss of residential amenity to neighbouring properties. There are already problems at the nearby school with parking and traffic congestion at school opening and closing times and the current on street parking from residents at this property exacerbates the problem. The current occupation of this property is in excess of what we would expect of a property with this number of rooms We remain, as notified in the past, concerned about the health hazards caused by the untidy nature of this site.
23.16 / Wistow Wharf
Main Street
Sutton Bonington / Retention of existing container modified but reduced in height and with timber cladding / Object we can see from the application that it suggests that the site is being run as a business rather than for the owners personal refurbishment of a single boat over the previous agreed limited period. We also have concern re flooding issues of siting the building within the river flood barrier. There were no buildings of any sort inside the river flood zone 3. This is now being proposed as a new permanent structure on the flood plain as defined by flood zone 3 contrary to planning regulations post the soar flood alleviation scheme

The unadopted section is Byway Open to all Traffic which is managed by the Rights of Way Team, they do not own the lane but manage a right over it. The maintenance of this section of Soar Lane is the responsibility of those having use of it ie farmers and adjacent landowners. The Rights of Way Team have previously contributed to the maintenance by giving surfacing materials to both farmers over the last couple of years.
