Landmarks

The Trekker Breeze gives the user the ability to create two different kinds of landmarks.

1.  Regular Landmark: points along your travel path the merits a reference points such as a mailbox, the corner of the street where you want to turn, etc…

2.  Destination Landmark: This kind of landmark is a building or location you travel to regularly. When marking a destination landmark I would encourage you to be specific with your names: i.e. Turkey Hill, N. State St. Ephrata.

·  It appears the default setting is to create a destination landmark. Landmarks not intended to be destination landmark can be changed by entering the setting menu.

·  It appears the record button is like a toggle key. When pressed once it records a landmark. When you press and hold the record key it will allow you to record a route. Thus if you don’t hear it tell you the option you want try the alternative.

Go to Select Route

Hold to Select Landmark as a Destination.

·  You must hold down the go to select route until you hear it state go to landmark. Before activating this feature, make sure your satellite is aligned and the Trekker is speaking you correct position (i.e. intersection). Landmarks must be marked as destination landmarks in order to use this feature.

Notes/Glitches:

-  You can mark landmarks when you are in your car. I found it best to pull in front of the building, stop and record.

-  Landmarks will be announced using the name you have given it.

-  As landmarks created outside will have a lot of background noise, you might want to consider renaming them indoors.

-  A landmark will be announced even if it located across the street. So watch out… you might thing your there and your really across the street. This can also be confusing for students as they might they are no the wrong the side of the street.

-  When traveling to a destination the device will announce your destination and then inform you that you have arrived. Also there is a tone that is played when a destination is reached. A destination is the position of the landmark and can be across the street.

-  You don’t need to create a route. Moving to a destination landmark will give you directions to your landmark. It will not tell you if you make a wrong turn. It will reposition the satellite and change the directions you’ve already been given. Its much like a car GPS (i.e. make your next right not turn around)
