Incumbent Supplier Certification

This section only applies if supplying the same material to the previous OEM

Intent:

This section is to allow an incumbent supplier that has already conducted CFAT on a component to certify they meet the requirements outlined below.

Requirement:

Component First Article Conditions. The CFAT requirement is considered to be met if the Contractor certifies that (1) the supplier has component First Article Approval on the identical part delivered for use in a previous vehicle production contract with the Government and (2) the supplier has been a continuous supplier of the part (for purposes of this clause, a continuous supplier is defined as one which has not had a break in production in excess of six months, and the design and manufacturing/assembly process or place of manufacture have not been changed). If military/federal specifications are applicable to the component and changes to these documents have been implemented which may impact form, fit, function or performance, a First Article Test shall be accomplished. Further, if degradation of performance of the component is evident, as determined by the Government, a First Article Test will have to be accomplished.
