AHC30310 CERTIFICATE III IN HORSE BREEDING

This is a nationally recognized qualification and training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth government funding for eligible individuals.

Overview

AHC30310 Certificate III in Horse Breeding is designed for those already working in, or who are looking for employment in the equine industry.

Candidates will learn how to perform routine horse care, prevent and treat equine injury and diseases, apply equine breeding & foaling procedures, along with developing skills in fencing, application of chemicals and OH&S.

This course will provide candidates with employment opportunities such as stable hands on horse breeding stud farms, training stables, with pathways to Equine Veterinary nursing.

Delivery Structure

The course is delivered over approximately 12 months full time or 24 months part time (includes workshops, practical activities, workplace practice, and assessment) and can vary depending on the learners prior education and industry experience.

The training is offered at various locations across Victoria, and may be completed as an Australian Apprenticeship in the workplace, including School Based Apprenticeships. The qualification is delivered on a flexible part time basis and is tailored to meet the needs of the individual student.

  • Min of 3 months working under a mentor in the workplace and completing activities and projects, including working under direct supervision

  • Venue for face to face training: Dookie Agriculture College (for practical training sessions) ECEC for theory training
  • Students to work through the workbooks and assessments between practical workshop
  • Chemicals – 1 month – 2 days face to face training 1 week apart plus assessment to be completed in the work place

Option 2:
  • Min of 2 months part time work, under a mentor in the workplace with a contract fencer or agriculture staff

Option 3:
  • a blend of option 1 and 2

Pathways and Recognition

4 Up Skilling Pty Ltd has applied the following pre-requisites regarding this qualification:

  • It is essential that participants complete the 4 Up Skilling Pty Ltd Pre Course Review (LLN) successfully (see form USLLN).
  • Participants must have access to a workplace or simulated work environment where they can apply skills and knowledge associated with the agriculture sector.
  • Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Students who have completed this qualification may continue their studies in Certificate IV in Agriculture. Higher level training is also available, up to Diploma and Advanced Diploma level.

Costs

The cost of the Certificate III in Horse Breeding qualification is approximately $720 for eligible students and approximately $1350 for ineligible students ($1.50 per enrolled hour). Costs will vary depending on the electives chosen. Please contact 4 Up Skilling to discuss eligibility requirements. Concession rates apply at 20% of the funded Student Tuition Fee rate for eligible students with relevant concession cards including:

  • Commonwealth Health care card
  • Pensioner Concession card
  • Veterans Gold card

Fee Schedule:

Full payment of fees is required on enrolment or prior to commencement of training.Payment can be made by:

  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • Direct Debit

Part Payment Plans may be arranged after consultation with the Training Manager. 4 Up Skilling do not accept prepaid fees in excess of $1500.

Packaging rules:

15 units make up this qualification. The packaging rules are as follows:

1 core unit

14 elective units:

Min of 4 units from group A

Min of 7 units from groups A or B

Max of 3 units from group C (units aligned to Certificates II, III or IV in AHC10 or from any other currently endorsed training package or accredited course. Selected units must be relevant to the job outcomes of agriculture)
