Nature of student engagement (to include a brief outline)
This is a new proposal which has been developed in response to:
  • the seeming decline of the attraction of BA ‘top-ups’ to overseas students (in particular raised by the University’sHong Kongpartner);
  • the need for more flexibility than a specific BA ‘top-up’ can offer in terms of preparation for a Masters;
  • the identification of a potential further group who may have not met the requisite GPA for entry directly to a Masters course.
(ADP, section 2 ‘Outline how the idea for the proposal originated’, page 3)
Nature of engagement with employers / industry / sector (to include a brief outline)
As outlined above, it is noted that the University’s Regional Representatives who attended recent international meetings at the University endorsed the perceptions of the market.

Other comments, actions and items to follow up after the initial planning meeting
Meetings are due to be held with interested Schools at which the following in the least are either to be discussed or confirmed:
  • Title change from ‘Master’s Progression’ to ‘Pre-Masters in…’;
  • Intermediate award – there will be no intermediate award given, however students leaving early will be given University credit;
  • Level 4 Study Skills module – new generic level 6 module to be developedinstead of a School based module;
  • Bracketed routes which will be in a ‘broad’ area i.e. Science, Business etc.
