1.3QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.Manufacturer

1.Manufacturerofresilientflooringshallbeafirmspecializinginmanufacturingproductsspecifiedinthissection.

2.ManufacturerofflooringandsubfloorcomponentsmustbeISO9001:2008Certifiedtoassurequalitycontrolofmaterialsprovided.

3.Manufacturerofgymnasiumfloorsystemandhardwoodflooringsurfaceshallbeverifiedasa“ZeroWaste”companyconfirmedthroughSWCAthird-partyauditing.

4.Basisofdesignshallbe“DuraCushionIII”sportsfloorsystemasprovidedbyConnorSportsFlooring, (800-833-7144).

5.Materialsotherthanthoselistedmustbeapproved10dayspriorbywrittenaddendum.Materialsfromnon-approvedmanufacturerswillnotbeaccepted.

B.Installer(FlooringContractor)

1.Thecompleteinstallationoftheflooringsystem,asdescribedinthescopeofthesespecifications,shallbecarriedoutbyanexperiencedinstaller(FlooringContractor),andtheworkshallbeperformedinaccordancewithmostrecentinstallationinstructionsofthemanufacturer.

2.Installer(FlooringContractor)shallbeliableforallmattersrelatedtoinstallationforaperiodofoneyearafterthefloorhasbeensubstantiallyinstalledandcompleted.

C.PerformanceTesting

1.FlooringsystemshallhavebeenindependentlytestedandevaluatedforAthleticPerformanceaccordingtotheInternationalStandardDIN18032,Part2.

2.DINtestingengineershallbeanISO17025Systemmemberratedforeachperformedtestconducted.

3.IndependentDINtestinglaboratoryshallhaveScientificBodyMembershipintheInternationalAssociationofSportsSurfaceSciences(ISSS).

4.FlooringsystemshallhavebeenindependentlytestedandevaluatedforEngineeringPerformanceaccordingtotheStructuralTestingandEngineeringMeasures(STEM).

1.4SUBMITTALS

A.Specification-SubmitConnorDuraCushionIIIspecificationsheets.

B.Sample-Submitonesampleofspecifiedsystem,ifrequestedbyarchitect.

C.MaintenanceLiterature-Uponcompletionoffloorinstallation,sendtoowner,attendantsorindividualsinchargeandresponsiblefortheupkeepofthebuildingaCARECARD.Thiscardspellsoutcareandmaintenanceinstructionsincludingtemperatureandhumidityrangesforareaswhereflooringisinstalled.

1.5WORKING CONDITIONS

A.Thewoodflooringspecifiedhereinshallnotbeinstalleduntilallmasonry,painting,plaster,tile,marbleandterrazzoworkiscompleted,andoverheadmechanicaltradesandpaintershavefinishedinthewoodfloorareas.Thebuildingshallbeenclosedandweathertite.

B.Theconcretesubfloorshallbedetermineddrybyindustrystandardtestingprocedures,freeofforeignmaterialsandturnedovertotheinstaller(FlooringContractor)broomclean.Moderateroomtemperatureof65degreesormoreshallbemaintainedaweekprecedingandthroughoutthedurationofthework.Humidityconditionswithinthebuildingshallapproximatethehumidityconditionsthatwillprevailwhenthebuildingisoccupied.

C.Permanentheat,lightandventilationshallbeinstalledandoperatingduringandafterinstallation,maintainingarangeoftemperatureandhumiditycompatiblewiththeexpectedlowandhighmoisturecontentoftheflooring.Thewoodmoisturecontentrangeisdeterminedbytheflooringcontactorbasedonthefacility’smechanicalcontrolsand/orgeographicallocation.

D.Flooringmustbestoredinadry,well-ventilatedarea,notincontactwithmasonry,toacclimatetobuildingconditionsandshallbeinstalledatmoisturecontentcompatiblewiththenormallyexpectedenvironmentalrangeoftemperatureandrelativehumidityachievedwhilethefacilityisoccupied.

E.GeneralContractorshalllockfloorareaafterfloorisfinishedtoallowpropercuretime.Ifgeneralcontractororownerrequiresuseofgymafterpropercuretime,heshallprotectthefloorbycoveringwithnon-marringKraftpaperorredrosinpaperwithtapedjointsuntilacceptancebyownerofcompletegymnasiumfloor.

F.Workingconditionsasdescribedaboveshallbefollowed.VariationsandsubstitutionsshallbesubmittedforapprovaltothearchitectwhoshalladviseConnorofthesame.

1.6HUMIDITYCONTROL

A. Sinceallwoodflooringwillexpandandcontractasrelativehumidityvaries,itisimportanttominimizeextremesbetweenlowandhigh.Hardwoodflooringismanufacturedatmoisturecontentmostcompatiblewitha35%-50%relativehumidityrange.Geographicalregionsandavailablemechanicalsdeterminethetypicalrangeoftemperatureandhumidityforeachfacility.Maintaininga15%fluctuationbetweenhighestandlowestaverageindoorrelativehumidityprovideslimitedshrinkageandgrowth.FacilitymanagersshouldmakeuseofavailableHVACsystemstopreventexcessivetighteningandshrinkageofflooring.

1.7WARRANTY

A.Connorwarrantsthatthematerialsithassuppliedwillbefreefrommanufacturingdefectsforaperiodofone year.Theforegoingwarrantyisinlieuofandexcludesallotherwarrantiesnotexpresslysetforthherein,whetherexpressorimpliedinoperationoflaworotherwise,including,butnotlimitedto,anyimpliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityorfitness.Thiswarrantyisexpresslylimitedtotheflooringmaterials(goods)suppliedbyConnor.Thiswarrantydoesnotcoverfloordamagecaused(whollyorinpart)byfire,winds,floods,moisture,otherunfavorableatmosphericconditionsorchemicalaction,nordoesitapplytodamagecausedbyordinarywear,misuse,abuse,negligentorintentionalmisconduct,aging,faultybuildingconstruction,concreteslabseparation,faultyorunsuitablesubsurfaceorsitepreparation,settlementofthebuildingwallsorfaultyorunprofessionalinstallationofConnorflooringsystems.

B.Connorshallnotbeliableforincidentalorconsequentiallosses,damagesorexpensesdirectlyorindirectly arisingfromthesale,handlingoruseofthematerials(goods)orfromanyothercauserelatingthereto,andtheirliabilityhereunderinanycaseisexpresslylimitedtothereplacementofmaterials(goods)notcomplyingwiththisagreement,orattheirelections,totherepaymentof,orcreditingbuyerwith,anamountequaltothepurchasepriceofsuchmaterials(goods),whethersuchclaimsareforbreachofwarrantyornegligence.AnyclaimshallbedeemedwaivedbybuyerunlesssubmittedtoConnorinwritingwithin30daysfromthedatebuyerdiscovered,orshouldhavediscovered,anyclaimedbreach.

B.Concreteslabshallbebroomcleanedbygeneralcontractor.

C.Installer(FlooringContractor)shalldocumentallworkingconditionsprovidedinGeneralSpecificationspriortocommencementofinstallation.

3.2INSTALLATION

A.Subfloor

1.Coverconcretewithpoly,sealingandlappingjointsaminimumof6”.

2.Installsleepersatrightanglestofinishflooring12”oncenter.Spaceends1/4”andoffsetjoints24”in adjacentrows.Provide2”expansionvoidsatperimeterandatallverticalobstructions.Inspectsleeperstobesurethatallpadsbearontheconcretesubfloor.Installsolidblockingatdoorways,underbleachersinthestackedposition,andbelowportablegoals.

3.Attachplywoodsubfloorwith8’edgesparalleltoandrestingonsleepers.Setplywoodinstaggeredbrickpatternandoffsetplywoodendjointsby1’fromsleeperendjoints,1/4"spacingatalledges.Fastenplywoodtosleepersusing1-1/2”staplesfastened12”oncenter.

B.MapleFlooring

1.Installmapleflooringbypowernailingorstaplingapproximately12”oncenterwithendjointsproperlydrivenup.

2.Ifrequired,sizejointsbetweenflooringstripstoallowforintermediateexpansioninaccordancewithlocalhumidityconditions.

3.Provided2”expansionvoidsatperimeterandatallverticalobstructions.

3.3FINISHING

A.MapleFlooring

1.Machinesandwithcoarse,medium,andfinepapertoasmooth,evenanduniformsurface.

2.Removesandingdustfromentiresurfacebytackorvacuum.

3.Inspectentireareaoffloortoinsurethatsurfaceisacceptableforfinishing,cleanandcompletelyfreefromsandingdust.

4.Applytwo(2)coatsofapprovedsealandtwo(2)coatsofapprovedfinishpermanufacture’sinstructions.

5.Buffandcleanfloorbetweencoats.

6.GamesLines:Applygamelinesasindicatedondrawings,betweensealandfirstcoatoffinish.

3.4BASE INSTALLATION

A. Installventcovebasetowallswithbasecementorscrews.Usepre-moldedoutsidecornersandmiteredinsidecorners.

3.5CLEANING

A. Removeexcessandwastematerialsfromtheareaofwork.
