Transition Arrangements

This qualification has been replaced by theNew Zealand Certificate in Fibreboard Packaging (Level 4) [Ref: 1820].

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2016. People currently working towards this replaced qualification must complete the requirements by December 2018.

Purpose

This national certificate is designed for people who are employed in the fibreboard packaging industry, and who have already completed the National Certificate in Printing (Production Support: Cut and Crease Printed Substrates) (Level 3) [Ref:0614].

Holders of this certificate have demonstrated competence in the knowledge and skills required by industry to cut and crease cartons to a minimum of six up, and autostrip to meet industry standards, and have demonstrated understanding of business and quality principles.

This certificate comprises a single compulsory set that meets the requirements of both industry and the learner. It is the highest-level qualification for people working in the fibreboard packaging sector.

Requirements for Award of Qualification

This qualification will be awarded to people who have gained credit for all of the compulsory unit standards.

Award of NZQF National Qualifications

Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.

Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website:

Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.

Version 4 was republished in November 2012 to indicate that the qualification has been reviewed and replaced by a New Zealand qualification.

This qualification was reviewed and issued as version 4 to take account of changes resulting from the review of the Paperboard Packaging (Carton) unit standards.

Changes to structure and content

  • title of qualification has changed to reflect the reclassification
  • title of unit standard 10913 has changed.

This qualification contains a standard that replaced an earlier standard. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

Previous versions of the qualification

Version 3 was reviewed and issued in January 2004 following the review of the core Printing Production unit standards. Unit standard 20057 replaced unit standard 339 and the credit total increased from 42 to 50.

Version 2 was issued in May 2001 to take account of the review of the Paperboard Packaging (Carton) and Graphic Pre-pressunit standards. Unit standard 339 is now classified under the Printing Production domain.

Quality Management Systems

Providers and Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess by a recognised Quality Assurance Body before they can register credits from assessment against standards. Organisation with consent to assess and Industry Training Organisations assessing against standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Consent to assess requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) for each standard.
