Hospital Library Services Program Committee Meeting

Present: Penelope Klein, CLRC; Angela Thor, CLRC; Jim Capodagli, Chair, SUNY Upstate; Gale Barone, Rome Memorial Hospital; Janis van Court, Utica College Library; Sandra Zajac, St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center/College of Nursing
Absent: Bette Jean Ingui, Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center
The meeting was called to order at 9:34 AM.
Last meeting’s minutes: Jim noted that the accreditation program used by Rome is HFAP not HVAC.
Approved: Moved [Gale Barone] / seconded [Janis van Court]
Action Items
· Penelope – Will contact Christina to see what CLRC can do about the Leadership Initiative.
· Penelope – Will send out instructions for the digital photos for leg breakfast
· Nancy – Will check to see if Rome has paid their second half bill and will get back to Gale.
Budget
· No hospital funding has arrived but no word that it won’t arrive either.
· LWW is up for renewal in January. CLRC has billed the hospitals for the second half of the year, so will see if those funds can be used for LWW until the state comes through. There is also the possibility of a charge back to the hospitals next year. Penelope may be back to the committee in December to determine action should state funding not arrive.
Continuing Education
· No response from Ruth Smith of the University of Virginia about the Health Literacy workshop. Depending on funding we will either find a different CE or await further funds.
· Upstate is looking into the Leadership Institute. CLRC will see what they can do to help.
Angela’s Circuit Report
· OHC library’s books are in storage. The new space is almost complete.
· GoLocal launch will be September 2010 with a soft launch in June. Standards have been developed for the hospital records; all CLRC hospital records are up to standard. Health Department records are the next priority.
· Talk of the library at Hamilton may be moved. Kim and Dr. Delorme are advocating for a place that is highly visible.
· Rome computer system blocked my email during one visit; the problem was fixed within a day.
Other
· Legislative breakfasts will be 12/4 at OCPL Central and 12/11 at Utica PL. Penelope will send out instructions for the video project to all the hospital libraries.
Next Meeting: Will be by phone on January 14 at 9:30am.
