Entry forms for the show are to be handed to any Road Steward no later than 8 pm on the Monday preceding the Show.
RULES
1. Each person may enter as many classes as he or she chooses. Each exhibitor becomes a member of the society for one year.
2. There will be an entry fee of 20p for each exhibit.
3. All classes are for amateurs unless otherwise stated. An amateur is someone who does not (or has not in the past) derive any income from the class being entered.
4. Except where the Schedule states otherwise, exhibits must be grown in the open.
5. The decision of the Judge is final as regards the relative merit of the exhibit. Protests by exhibitors on any other matter must be made in writing and delivered to the Secretary before 3 p.m. on the day of the Show.
6. The Committee reserve the right to inspect the garden of the exhibitor and retain exhibits to compare with the exhibitor's growing crops.
7. Multiple entries are permitted up to three in a class (unless otherwise stated), but no exhibitor may take more than one prize in any one class.
8. Where specified, vases provided by the Society must be used.
9. All exhibits for prizes must have been grown by the exhibitors or cultivated by the exhibitors for at least three months, except for floral art arrangements where the flowers may be purchased.
10. All floral arrangements other than dried arrangements are to be staged arranged in water or water containing material.
11. Exhibitors may stage their exhibits between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on the day of the Show, and all exhibitors must be clear of the hall by 12.15. All flowers to be arranged in vases before placing on exhibition tables. Judging will commence at 12.15 p.m.
12. A novice is anybody who has never been awarded a first prize at any of the Society's Shows in the relevant category.
13. Exhibits may be sold at the end of the Show. Members should remove exhibits not for sale by 4.30 p.m.
The show is to be held at the Community Hall, Station Path, Gibbs Couch, Carpenders Park.
THERE WILL BE A BRING AND BUY HORTICULTURAL STALL (PRODUCE, PLANTS, JAMS) AT THE SHOW. PLEASE BRING ALONG SOMETHING TO SELL; ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE SOCIETY'S FUNDS.THERE WILL ALSO BE A RAFFLE WHICH WILL BE DRAWN AT 4 p.m.

RULES OF THE SOCIETY
1. The objectives of the Society are:
a) to promote a general interest in gardening
b) to hold exhibitions and competitions
c) to promote mutual assistance and co-operation amongst the members
2. The Officers shall be Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
3. The affairs of the Society shall be conducted by a Committee of up to nine members (including the Officers).
4. Half the members of the Committee shall retire annually but are eligible for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.
5. The Annual General Meeting to be held in the Autumn when the reports of the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer shall be presented.
6. Past and present residents of Carpenders Park shall be eligible for membership.
7. Any local people may enter the Society's shows We welcome new members from the local area.
8. Awards sanctioned by the Committee may be given according to the determination of competent judges.
9. The Treasurer shall only make such payments as are authorised by the Society.

BOWL A vessel for displaying cut flowers in water or for growing bulbous plants and having a diameter at its mouth at least equal to, but usually greater than its height.
VASE A vessel for displaying cut flowers in water and having a greater height than at the diameter of its mouth.
HERBACEOUS PERENNIALS Plants with non-woody stems which die down to the ground annually but which have root stocks which remain alive throughout several years. For horticultural purposes, the word 'rootstock' includes all bulbs, corms and tubers.
KIND A term used in classification of plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables for Show purposes. For example, Roses, Dahlias are kinds of flowers; Apples, Pears are kinds of fruit; Carrots, Onions are kinds of vegetables.
VARIETY A term used for Show purposes indicating a variation within a 'kind'; thus 'Super Star', 'Peace' are varieties of Roses; 'Blenheim Orange' a variety of Apple. It follows therefore that where in the schedule a 'Variety' of a particular flower is called for, all flowers must be the same colour.
DAHLIAS Dahlia Classes are governed by the classification of Dahlias for Show purposes by the Classification Committee of the N.D.S. and the allocation of varieties to their appropriate sections and their colour classification shall be according to the N.D.S. classified official list of varieties for the current year.
JAM AND MARMALADE Exhibitors must cover the exhibits with waxed circles and jars be sealed with vacuum or cellophane covers. No metal lids allowed. Jars should be properly labelled showing the word 'Marmalade' or 'Jam' (Orange, Raspberry etc) and date of making. Please fill to the brim.
