most crusaders were untrained and illiterate; some knight and kings ( lack of training and discipline caused them to get massacred)

Summary: In 1095, Pope Urban called for Christians to go on a Crusade and reclaim the Holy Lands and aide the
Byzantine Emperor. The lands had been taken over by Muslims and the pope feared that they would come to Europe and
threaten Christianity. There 8 Crusades but on the first was considered a victory, and the victory was short lived. As a
Result of the Crusades there was hostility between the Jews, Christian and Muslims, kings of Europe increased their power,
And European leaders set out explorers in order to trade directly with Asia and the Middle East.
