Organizational Structure

Continue to build upon the organizational structure of the North CarolinaSchool Counselor Association on behalf of the membership

Goal 1:

Maintain a stable and strong financial status while remaining accountable to the membership

Goal 2:

Develop a diverse Board of Directors (i.e. regionally, ethnically, age gender, sexual orientation) that will work within the best interest of the organization and remain accountable to its members.

A / Continue to recruit board members who are knowledgeable about the progression of the field and supportive of the role of the professional school counselor
B / Recruit board members that are knowledgeable about board ethics, professionalism, and represent the association on behalf of its members at all times
C / Continue to develop relationships and collaborate with other organizations that are supportive of professional school counselors and the profession
D / Continue efforts of Policy Governance in a way that: (a) all board members speak with one vision and mission, (b) is inclusive of all board members’ voices, (c) allows for issues to be discussed, and (d) provides support for board members and committees to carry out their responsibilities

Professional Development

To promote professional development of professional school counselors and other persons directly impacting the role of the professional school counselor

Goal 1: Promote and support comprehensive developmental school counseling programs and the ASCA National Model

Steps:

A / Support and sustain ASCA National Model implementation and RAMP recognition across the state. Provide recognition for outstanding school counselor implementation of comprehensive counseling programs
B / Provide training to help clarify the role of school counselors for professional school counselors in all school settings (including alternative programs) and interested parties (i.e. counselor educators and school administration programs)
C / Continue annual NCSCA fall conference; drive-in workshops and other training to include on-line learning opportunities
D / Collaborate with Directors of Student Support Services and Counselor Educators to promote professional development opportunities for all school counselors
