TMGC rules for AMBROSECompetitions- 28th May 2013

As there are no “official” rules for playing Ambrose events the Match Committee have agreed to the following rules for all Ambrose games played on this course which are subject to change at anytime. Scores may not count towards any eclectic event.

HANDICAPS

Sum the individual stroke handicaps then take:

For a two-ball event - one quarter

For a three-ball event - one sixth

For a four-ball event - one eighth

NUMBER OF TEE SHOTS PER PLAYER

Mark the players’ names for which holes the drives were selectedon the card and use for each team member.

For a team of twoplayers - six tee shots each

For a team of threeplayers- four tee shots

For a team of fourplayers - three tee shots

CARDS

Record each team member’s name and handicap on thecard which should be signed by two team members for four person teams and the opposing team captain for two or three person teams. Gross and net scores must be shown and the team with the lowest net score is the winner.

RULES OF PLAY

Any team member may drive first from any tee. Select the ball that provides the best advantage for the team. The player whose ball is selected does not have to play first and players may play in any order. Balls may be cleaned before placing or dropping.

PLAY FROM THE FAIRWAY

Team members must place their ballswithin the lengthof a club grip from the marker for the selected ball but no closer to the hole. Once a placed ball comes to rest it is then in play and may not be moved again.

PLAY FROM THE ROUGH

The player whose ball is selected may play first as the ball lies. Balls are dropped on the same cut of grasstostop within one club lengthfrom the ball marker. If the ball rolls further it must be re-dropped and if the re-dropped ball rolls further,lift and place it where it first touched the ground. If a dropped ball touchesany player orequipment before coming to rest, it must be re-dropped without penalty.

PLAY FROM A BUNKER

Each ball is placed on the sand within the length of a club grip from the marker for the selected ball and the sand may be raked between players.

PLAY FROM A HAZARD

The player whose ball is selected may play first as the ball lies. Balls are dropped in the hazard within one club length of the ball marker but no closer to the hole. Normal rules of play from within the hazard then apply to the dropped balls.

PUTTING

Team membersmay putt in any order. Place the ball within the length of a putterhead from the marker for the selected ball but no closer to the hole. A team member whose first putt misses the hole but whose ball stops close to the hole(say 30 cm or less) may attempt to hole out with team members’ agreement to save marking and timei.e. “tap-ins” are allowed. Subsequent team membersmay putt for lower scores and if successful, the lowest score is recorded.
