A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of John C. "Jack" Fisher.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to John C. "Jack" Fisher.

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was born on July 8, 1928, a native son of the Commonwealth and a lifelong resident of Owensboro, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on November 27, 2005; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher had a great passion for his hometown of Owensboro and he worked much of his adult life to provide for the betterment of that city; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher served as mayor of the city of Owensboro twice, once from 1976 to 1979 and secondly from 1984 to 1987; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher also served on the Owensboro city commission for six years from 1970 to 1975; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher, as mayor, accomplished the task of taking politics out of city hiring and promotion decisions by removing the city commission from the process and in its place instituted testing and evaluations; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was honored by the city of Owensboro by having a softball complex and park on the west side of town named for after him; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was a veteran of World War II, during which he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher retired from the United States Postal Service in 1984; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was a faithful member of First Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was the loving and devoted husband of Joan Clements Fisher, who preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was the beloved father of Amy Sue Fisher, Robin Ann Fisher, and John Matthew Fisher, and the grandfather of two; and

WHEREAS, John C. "Jack" Fisher was the loving son of Raymond Thomas Fisher and Tabitha Jane Calhoun, who both preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, the passing of John C. "Jack" Fisher has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of John C. "Jack" Fisher and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. The Senate recognizes that John C. "Jack" Fisher was deeply loved and respected by his family, friends, and community, and the members further recognize his extraordinary service to the city of Owensboro and acknowledge his brave service to this nation during a time of war.

Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of John C. "Jack" Fisher.

Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Amy Fisher, 1712 Fawn Drive, Owensboro, Kentucky 42303-1842.
