Program Mission Statement

The Extended Day Program strives to provide a secure atmosphere for children when school is out and parents are not available to care for them. Our goals are to provide:

A Christian environment that will contribute positively to the child’s moral and spiritual development

Experiences that complement the home and supplement the school but do not try to take the place of or duplicate either

A loving, caring staff concerned for each child and his/her individual needs for development

A quality program based on a knowledge of the child’s total development (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual), his/her interests, and needs

A well-balanced program with age-appropriate activities, materials, and equipment

Extended Day Program Guidelines

Students in the Extended Day Program are governed by all rules and regulations published in the OLPHSchool Student/Parent Handbook.

On a daily basis all students in grades K-8 are required to spend time studying. This includes bookwork, but also studying spelling words, reviewing for tests, and reading a book for a book report. Students in grades 1-8 also have the option of attending a study hall class (at the discretion of their primary school teacher) after snack.

School day teachers will release children in Kindergarten, who attend the Extended Day Program on a regular basis, at 3:25 pm and 3:30pm for grades 1-4 to the care of their Extended Day Teacher. Children in grades 5-8 should proceed to the cafeteriaonce the dismissal bell has rung. Please remind your child to go directly to the their designated area. After your child has signed in they then can seek approval to change clothes, go to the library or computer lab. Children may help other teachers at this time, however they must have written approval, which is to be obtained during the school day.

**To ensure the safety and supervision of each child all parents must escort their children to the CDC Building and/or cafeteria if they arrive before 7:45 am.
