GLOBAL CHANGE-MAKERS
Summative Popplet Profile Assignment

It is now time to examine the positive contributions that many world and community leaders have made towards addressing various geopolitical and world issues. These individuals may be politicians, activists, diplomats, celebrities or members of royal families. These leaders have taken a notable stand to create awareness, broach peace treaties between warring parties, financially support communities in need and so on. Their words and, most importantly, their actions, make them significant global change-makers.

You will select an individual who has made a significant contribution to addressing a world issue or global conflict in the 21st Century. Choose an individual from the list below, or, if you have a global change maker who is not on the list, speak with your teacher.

You will document this individual’s contributions to world issues by creating aPopplet Profile(or other type of visual presentation like a Google Map) of the individual. Your Popplet must include a minimum of 10 Popplet boxes and include the following:

  • Biography: A short biography of the individual in your own words (~250 words)
  • Accomplishments: The individual’s notable accomplishments, personal and those related to their work on the world issue (~125 words)
  • Issue: A brief overview of the world issue they are involved with addressing and the geographic region of focus of the issue (5WsH) (~250 words)
  • Contributions: How the individual became involved with the issue and the contributions s/he makes to addressing it (~125 words)
  • Impact Assessment: A paragraph that assesses how successful, you believe, the individual has been in “making change” related to this issue and a rationale for your assessment (1= moderately effective, 10= Extremely effective)
  • Include a wide variety (6+) of visuals, digital maps, pictures, video clips etc. of the individual, the issue, and geographic location of the issue, to make the Popplet or map interactive and engaging
  • A properly formatted APA or MLA bibliography that includes 4 sources (min.). You can include this as a Popplet box.
