INFORMATION PACK 2014

OVERVIEW

The ‘ECU Sports Awards’ are awarded annually across five (5) categories to nominee/s who demonstrate outstanding achievements against the respective award criteria.
All nominees are duly recognised at the ‘ECU Sports Awards – Award Ceremony’ held annually with the winner announced and presented with their award on the night.

AWARD CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Edith Cowan University ‘Elite Athlete of the Year’

The Edith Cowan University ‘Elite Athlete of the Year’ Award is awarded by the University to recognise a student who has demonstrated outstanding sporting achievement in their chosen sport during the voting periodbut has not necessarily represented the University in sporting competitions.

Edith Cowan University ‘Female Athlete of the Year at University Sporting Competitions’

The Edith Cowan University ‘Female Athlete of the Year at University Sporting Competitions’ Award is awarded by the University to recognise a female student who has demonstrated outstanding sporting achievement/s whilst representing the University in sporting competition/s during the voting period. Additional non-competitive contributions to the University may be considered when athletes cannot be separated by their ECU sporting achievements alone.

Edith Cowan University ‘Male Athlete of the Year at University Sporting Competitions’

The Edith Cowan University ‘Male Athlete of the Year at University Sporting Competitions’ Award is awarded by the University to recognise a male student who has demonstrated outstanding sporting achievement/s whilst representing the University in sporting competition/s during the voting period. Additional non-competitive contributions to the University may be considered when athletes cannot be separated by their ECU sporting achievements alone.

Edith Cowan University ‘Sports Team of the Year’

The Edith Cowan University ‘Sports Team of the Year’ Award is awarded by the University to recognise an ECU sporting team that has demonstrated outstanding sporting achievement/swhilst representing the University in sporting competition/s during the voting period. Additional non-competitive contributions to the University by the Team Captain/Leader may be considered when teams cannot be separated by their ECU sporting achievements alone.

Edith Cowan University ‘Service to University Sport’

The Edith Cowan University ‘Service to University Sport’ Award is awarded by the University to recognise an ECU student or volunteer that has demonstrated outstanding service and support to ECU’s athletes and/or sporting teamswho have been representing the University in sporting competition/s during the voting period.

APPLICATIONS AND CONDITIONS

Applications can be submitted hand written or typed using the nomination form provided. Individuals/Teams can nominate themselves.

VOTING PERIOD

Post 2013 Australian University Games [5 Oct, 2013] –
Closing Ceremony 2014 Australian University Games [3 Oct, 2014]

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1.  A summary of the nominee/team’s sporting achievements during the voting period
(this may be edited and used in the ‘ECU Sports Awards – Award Ceremony’ Program)
no more than 100 words.

2.  Brief sporting curriculum vitae highlighting the nominee/team’s achievements during the voting period - no more than one A4 page.

3.  Name, address and contact telephone numbers of one (1) referee who can comment on the nominee/team’s sporting achievements in that year.

4. A high resolution passport/team photo & competition photo.

CLOSING DATE

Applications are to be received in full by ECU Sports no later than:
Monday 13th October, 2014

Successful finalists will be advised of the ‘ECU Sports Awards – Selection Committee’s decision and invited to the ‘ECU Sports Awards – Awards Ceremony’ where the winners of each award will be announced. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday 24th October, 2014 at Patersons Stadium, Subiaco.
