“Jeepers, Creepers”

Prepare a spreadsheet of Ralph Malph’s proposed budget for his four years of college. His estimated expenses for the first year of school are given in the table below. Using these figures, project the cost for years 2, 3, and 4. Find the total cost for each budget item. Compute as well, the total cost of his college education. You will need to determine the number of columns and rows required for this spreadsheet.

THE RULES

1. Open Microsoft Excel

2. Make cell A1 the active cell

3. Place the title ‘College Expenses for Ralph Malph" on the spreadsheet.

4. Label the columns: Item, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Total. Leave one blank column between Item and Year 1 and between Year 4 and Total.

5. Label the rows. These labels will be in the column entitled Item. These labels can be found on the chart provided below. Leave one blank row after Miscellaneous Expenses and insert another label called Total.

6. Enter the original data values for the Year 1,2,3 and 4 from Ralph Malph’s estimated college budget. (This info is located at the bottom of the page in the chart) Yes, this means copy the exact same info for each year.

7. Find the sum in the appropriate cells for the row and column totals.

8. Enter dollar signs with two decimals places where money is represented.

9. Column headings are to be centered

10. Adjust column widths as needed.

11. Take a deep breath and then smile.

12. Center across the columns the title of your document.

13. Enter a header. For this header enter your name. Have this header centered.

14. Add a border and/or a format of your choice. Use color.

15. Use bold, italics, font and font size in the cell of your choice.

16. Manipulate data:

· Change Tuition and fees to $1,620 (all years)

· Change Room and Board to $4,110 (all years)

· Change Textbooks and Supplies to $450 (year 4)

· Change Clothing Expense to $375 (year 1)

· Change Transportation to $300 (all years)

· Change Miscellaneous Expenses to $200 (years 3 and 4)

17. Save your spreadsheet as Excel 4.
