GUIDELINES FOR CANDIDATES

Introduction

These guidelines and supporting information are intended to assist you in completing your application. Please read them carefully beforehand. If you experience any difficulty in completing any parts of this form, please leave blank. This will not prejudice your application in any way. We will contact you direct if we require any further information.

Completion of Application Form

Your application form contains information that will be referred to during the selection process. Please ensure that the form and the additional Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form are clearly written, ideally in blank ink, or typed. Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you would like us to confirm receipt of your application. The form should be returned to the HR Assistant at the address below.

Curriculum Vitae

You should supply an up-to-date curriculum vitae.

References

You have been asked to provide details of a number of people whom we can contact to provide a reference to support your application (one referee should normally be your current or most recent employer). We generally only seek references once a provisional offer has been made and accepted although, occasionally, we may wish to seek references at the short-listing stage. Please let us know in advance if there is any reason why you would not wish us to contact any of your referees at this stage.

Organisation and Conduct of Interviews

Short-listed candidates will usually be contacted by the email address or telephone number provided. Interviews will be held at Churchill College and details of where you should go and to whom you should report upon arrival will be discussed with you on the telephone or sent to you in an email or letter confirming the interview arrangements. The Selection Panel will be drawn from members of senior staff relevant to the post. The interview will last approximately 30 minutes and you will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions about the post and the College. All information recorded as a result of the interview process, including any written notes, will be confidential.

Offers of Appointment

Short-listed candidates will be notified of the outcome of the interview. The means of communication and timescale will be discussed with you during the interview.

A provisional offer will be made to the successful candidate who will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire at this stage. The medical questionnaire is not seen by the Selection Panel and does not form any part of the selection process. This will be followed by a written offer of employment which will include details of the relevant terms and conditions relating to the post.

Please note that provisional offers are subject to you providing evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK. You will need to provide original documentation: photocopies can not be accepted. Please see the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act (2006) for further details.

If you have any queries, please contact the HR Assistant, Alison Miller, on (01223) 331637 or by email at . Applications should be sent to her by post at Churchill College, Storey’s Way, Cambridge CB3 0DS.
