PUBLIC COMMENT: None

SHERIFF’S REPORTS:

The Mercer County Sheriff’s reports for the month of December 2017 were presented for review and discussion. The jail census for today is: USMS=19; Mercer County=15; Cook County=25; Henderson County=3. (Housing individuals from Henderson murder case). Sheriff Staley pointed out the housing income is right on target and business has been good for Mercer County financials.

INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR JAIL SERVICES:

Bruce DeLashmit is working on creating a generic intergovernmental law enforcement agreement that can be utilized between counties for various situations. The state has mandated all counties be equipped with a 911 system.

Sheriff Staley reported he is waiting on the union’s determination regarding hiring of additional correctional officers due to increased inmate housing. This decision will hinge on how many inmates the MCSO can safely manage.

February 5th is when the new inmate meals will begin with Doug Sturgill from Town & County Restaurant. Jail Administrator Zach Devlin has had a lot of positive feedback from the community and inmates as well.

MIDLAND COMMUNICATIONS:

Sheriff Staley wanted the LEC to be aware the MCSO is looking into obtaining several bids to update and/or replace jail cameras from analog to digital.

OTHER BUSINESS:

The next Law Enforcement meeting is Wednesday, February 21, 2018, 9:00 a.m. at the Annex. Also, Mr. Devlin reported that the mental health services for inmates is working out great!

REVIEW / APPROVE CLAIMS:

Motion: by Hare to approve the claims of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office dated 1-24-18 for payment totaling $33,982.50 in monthly bills pending County Board approval.

Hawn seconded the motion. Voice Vote: “Unanimous”
