LEPC Meeting Minutes 2-24-16

  2. Bucky called the meeting to order at 13:35

  7. Scott McKenzie made motion to approve. Seconded by Dave Young. All in favor.
  8. HMEP Grant 2016
  9. Received HMEP grant from state in the amount of $2800.
  10. Reports /Action- Local Incident Briefs
  11. Extreme weather event- Power Outages
  12. Extreme weather events are being considered our biggest natural event for our County.
  13. In this weather event our highest wind speed was 83 MPH.
  14. There were at least 40 incidents that occurred from the weather event in the county.
  15. EM lost power during the weather event which affected dispatch. Generator control board failed. UPS carried load for 28 min. Dispatch was able to re-route their calls to Utah County. Back to full generator power by evening. Microwave system and radio system never went down. Dispatch was ok the whole time.
  16. Training Opportunities
  17. Summary of Finance Section Training
  18. SL County- Chief Mecham came out and did finance section training for our county and city finance people.
  19. Resource inventory was a major part of training as well as tracking manpower.
  20. EM will look into bringing business finance section training to the EOC for local business.
  21. There will be a bomb explosives training Feb 26th, two sessions.
  22. TEEX- operational level response to hazmat and WMD incidents March 9-11 SCL. Class is full. Another class may be offered at Salt Lake / LDS Hospital.
  23. Be Ready Business TP3 course March 22 at EOC. Please RSVP to beckie or bucky if interested in any of the courses.
  24. Public Safety Summit- St George 17-18 of May. There will be many topics covered.
  25. EOC is working hard to provide 2 trainings per month. We want to be your training resource.

  28. Great Utah Shakeout 2016- Apr 21st
  29. EM would encourage you to participate in the shakeout event. Register online.

  35. LEPC- Industrial site locations- If anyone is interested in the LEPC coming to their site for a visit please contact Bucky.

  38. Tier ll submittals
  39. Tier ll reports are getting close to their deadline. Please submit to EM and your local fire dept.
  40. Roundtable
  41. Jay Vance- Stericycle- He has seen the latest draft on their air permit. Their turned in their tier ll report already.
  42. Dave Young- Citizen- concerned about spring runoff.
  43. Chief Tate- TEAD- April 4-15 they will have military personnel training out there. They are getting a new commander June 28th Col. Brown.
  44. Herman Herrera- US Magnesium- Fire Rescue and EMT training in March.
  45. Tina Worcester- Dugway- Full scale exercise May 25th. Sheriff’s dept will be participating. CDC bldg. will simulate evacuation. Second location will be at life sciences- shooting.
  46. Matt LaFrance- TCHD April 28th virtual table top exercise- infectious disease outbreak.
  47. Bryan Slade- TCHD- Household Hazardous Waste Day May 7th at Clean Harbors. Flyers will go out.
  48. Bucky Whitehouse- EM- SR-36 Road project will be starting up again soon for the south end of town. There are several bills at legislation that will affect Emergency Management.
