General Objective
“Determine what needs to be developed so that a standardized electronicphytosanitary certificationsystem is defined for implementation between National Plant Protection Organizations”.
Specific objectives and approach
- Provide general background on electronic certification, phytosanitaryelectronic certification developments around the world and advances from countries working on electronic certification;
- Work towards:
- Determining the standardized contents of the electronic phytosanitary certificate;
- Determining the standardized way of secure and authentic transmission of the electronic phytosanitary certificate;
- Determining how to get the standardized elements of electronic phytosanitary certification accepted and widely used;
- Determining how to make the standardized elements of electronic phytosanitary certification available to all NPPOs;
- Determining the elements needed to have a smooth transition from paper certificates to electronic certificates.
- Establish a working program and an international forum for 2011-12 to further resolve the challenges identified during the meeting and formulate a draft appendix for ISPM 12 resulting in a report to CPM 7.
