Making the “Culture of Vocations” Real (10/15)

The New England Member Area of the National Religious Vocation Conference, in collaboration with Assumption College, Worcester, is hosting a half day event on Sunday, October 15th from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the Assumption College campus. “Making the ‘Culture of Vocation’ REAL,” will explore vocation in general as well as those called to religious life. This theme was requested by Pope Francis in preparation for the upcoming Synod of Bishops 2018 “Discernment and Youth: The Discernment of the Christian Vocation.” Through the eyes and hearts of young religious men and women, speakers will examine how young people perceive religious life, how older religious can understand and accompany young people on their spiritual journey, and how to assist young people in their discernment of God’s call. Youth and Young Adults who are looking into religious life as an option are encouraged to come. For more information, contact Fr. Rocco Puopolo,s.x. r at 508.429.2144.

0th Wedding Anniversary Mass

October 8 ~ Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.” These words from today’s scripture are once again words of encouragement and comfort. We know what it is like to rely on God and to place before him all our cares and worries and to experience peace in his presence. As Christ’s disciples, offer words of reassurance to a person you know who is worried or anxious.

October 15 ~ Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time The readings today remind us of the generosity of God who provides for us “a feast of rich food…” We are so fortunate to be able to gather at the table of the Lord to receive the Body of Christ in Holy Communion. This simple but rich food nourishes our lives giving us all that we need to be the body of Christ for others This week, pray for the grace to extend an invitation to someone to “come to the feast” and join you at Mass.

October 23 ~ Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time St. Paulwrites of his gratitude for the community at Thessalonica in the second reading today. He offers a prayer of thanksgiving for them remembering their works of faith and labors of love. His words of encouragement kept the community engaged in the work of promoting the faith and strengthening their bond of love for one another. Take five minutes each day this week to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for your parish community, praying that it will continue to grow in faith.

October 29 ~ Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Jesus doesn’t mince words in today’s gospel. “The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments” - love God with your whole being and love your neighbor as yourself. There is no wiggle room in how we are to behave and how we are to treat one another. As his disciples, let us pray for the grace to be faithful to living according to these commandments in all areas of our life.
