Dear Focus Group Member

Teachers collaborating to improve learning and teaching of Maths with ESOL learners.

It has been 4 months since we ran our focus group at the City Learning Centre. It was a very enjoyable session with excellent feedback.

I hope that your courses for 2008/9 have all enrolled well and your learners are enjoying your hard work. I have attached the summary of the action plans that were created at our workshop on 1 July. These include some fantastic ideas and I hope that all is going to plan with your teaching of Maths/ESOL learners. I am keen to hear of your progress.

We are due to meet again in December when we will review our action plans and discuss whether these have made a difference. (At that point, we will complete the action plan and collate resources for NCETM who will then arrange for this information to be published on the portal). By then some of our group action plans and a summary of what motivates ESOL learners to join Maths courses should also be on the NCETM site.

Originally we had agreed the 16/12/08 for our evaluation lunch. However, I cannot book the City Learning Centre for this date (it was already booked for that whole week when I enquired in August). I have looked for other suitable venues and can now confirm the following:

(see map less than a mile from the City Learning Centre we attended in July, with free parking on site or on the “First” bus route 25/26)

Payment:Your can claim up to £45 for you attendance on this morning
