Scholarship Information

The Rotary Club of Oberlin, KS, was established in 1924 as a part of the Rotary International organization. Rotary Club of Oberlin is comprised of local business men and women that meet weekly. Primary goals of the club are to enhance the local community through club service, vocational service, community service, and international service. Rotarians are encouraged to follow what is termed the 4-Way Test: 1) Is it the Truth;

2) Is it Fair to all concerned;

3) Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?;

4) Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Weekly “fines” and “lottery chances” are collected from club members each week to promote continued education beyond the high school level for each selected student. This monetary scholarship will be given annually to two deserving students at DCHS to be used in their pursuit of a secondary education at the institution of their choice.

Any interested students who feel they qualify in meeting the following selection criteria are encouraged to apply. Applications are due by April 15th.

Selection Criteria for the Applicant includes:

o  Attendance and proposed graduation from DCHS;

o  A minimum GPA of 2.5;

o  Demonstrating a desire to develop acquaintances through participation in school and community activities;

o  Demonstrating ethical standards in school and community activities;

o  Demonstrating interest and participation in community activities;

o  Demonstrating a desire for knowledge of other cultures and international events;

o  Demonstrating responsibility through good school attendance and strong work ethics.

Scholarship Recipients:

o  Two scholarships will be awarded as determined by a Scholarship Committee consisting of the DCHS principal, counselor, and two Rotarians.

o  Scholarships are $750 for one year and are non-renewable.

o  Scholarship will be paid in two installments of $375; one for the Fall semester and again for the Spring semester. This will be given directly to the recipient after proof of college registration has been received.

o  College registrations should be delivered to the Oberlin Rotary Club Treasurer and can be mailed to PO Box 234, Oberlin, KS 67749.
