The Office of the European Union Special Representative in Kosovo (EUSR) is offering a unique opportunity for outstanding graduate and postgraduate students to gain practical professional experience. An internship position will be open, starting on February 2014 for a period of three months. The intern is required to work full-time during the office hours. The intern will be working in the EUSR office in Pristina.

The Internship involves:

  • Monitoring political developments in Kosovo of relevance for the implementation of the EUSR mandate;
  • Research and analysis of political issues;
  • Liaison and communication with internal and external counterparts;
  • Participation in the preparation of background briefing notes or talking points;
  • Contribution and support of activities and projects relating to EUSR matters;
  • Support in processing incoming and outgoing correspondence in the Political Affairs Unit
  • Other tasks related to the implementation of the EUSR’s mandate.

Candidates for the Internship Programme will be selected on a competitive basis. The following minimum qualifications are required:

  • The selected candidate should be citizen of a Member State of the European Union (EU) and enjoying full rights as a citizen.
  • Completion of three years of studies in law, political sciences, public administration, EU studies or any other related field. A relevant second level master’s degree would be considered as asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the functioning of the EU and in particular of its Common Foreign and Security Policy.
  • Understanding the political, cultural and security situation of the Balkans.
  • Self motivated and committed to continuous learning.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English. Excellent drafting skills.
  • Sharp analytical skills and capacity to write syntheses, coupled with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of all essential computer software including word processing, presentation and Internet communication and searching.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Reliability, adaptability and capacity to prioritise.
  • Proficiency in any of the official languages in Kosovo is desirable.
