San Francisco, CA – The cancellation of Halloween in the Castro has left members of the gay, lesbian, bi and trans community without a celebration of one of the community’s most hallowed of gay holidays. On October 26th, the Friday before Halloween, STOP AIDS Project is producing Queens Are Wild at the Porn Palace from 7pm to Midnight. All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the HIV prevention work of the STOP AIDS Project.

“Halloween has been an important holiday in the gay community for generations,” said Jason Riggs, Deputy Director of STOP AIDS Project. “It is a time for adults to indulge in creative imagination, fantasy, and spectacle. Queens are Wild is a chance to experience these things in a safe environment, while supporting HIV prevention efforts at the same time.”

Attendees at Queens Are Wild will be encouraged to escape the outside world with hundreds of others for a night of casino games with porn stars and celebrities dealing black jack. Performing throughout the evening will be SF Boylesque, the nation's premier male burlesque troupe. In the dance area DJ Robbie Martin will be entertaining the crow.

The Porn Palace is just one short block from the Metreon parking structure at 415 Jessie Street at 5th Street and tickets range from $50 to $1,000. For more information and to buy tickets visit www.stopaids.org.

Halloween celebrations in the gay community have a long history. At one point it was the only time of year when men could dress as women and not risk arrest. A large number of famous drag performers and female impersonators got their first taste of drag at Halloween celebrations and many transgender people point toward Halloween as the only time of year they cold truly be themselves when they were children.

Queens Are Wild sponsors include: Elbow Grease, Nakedsword.com, Raging Stallion Studios, La Moone Catering, Better World Advertising, Hilton San Francisco, La Crema, Gloss Magazine, Abbott Virology, and Shari’s Berries.
