Intro (how do you capture their attention and get them interested?):
  • Students will quickly summarize the text of Beowulf, to the point we have read. They will have a review of epics as well.

Body (what comes after your interesting intro?)
  • Students will take a quiz on paper. They will have 25 minutes to complete the quiz.
  • Students will then receive information on a literary analysis. I will explain the prompts and requirements for the paper. I will also inform students of the due date (09/29).
  • Students will then continue reading Beowulf to page 56.
  • Students will then find a partner and complete study guide 2 with said partner. The study guide will be due at the end of the class period.

Closure (purposeful summary-help them remember today or anticipate tomorrow):
  • Students will be asked how they believe the story will end. They will answer on a loose-leaf sheet of paper and turn in for an exit slip.
