World Geography PowerPoint Project

You will choose a country to research and create a PowerPoint to teach the class about your country.

PowerPoint Requirements:

1.  Must have a title page including your name, country, and class period

2.  Include at least 10 slides of information

a.  Information must be bulleted points NOT paragraphs copied and pasted from the internet!

3.  Include at pictures, maps, graphs, etc.

4.  Slide with sources listed (not google.com)

a.  Must use CIA Factbook and Culture Grams (you really won’t need any other sources)

What to research:

1.  Location

a.  Neighboring nations, bodies of water, etc

b.  Major physical features

c.  Climate

d.  Major cities, capital

2.  People

a.  Languages

b.  Religions

c.  Government (type, the current leaders)

d.  Population/population density

e.  Literacy rates, life expectancy

f.  Holidays/festivals/celebrations

g.  Fun stuff about their culture (you can find it on Culture Grams)

3.  Economy

a.  Main exports and imports (more than listed in textbook!)

b.  Per capita income

c.  Type of money and exchange rate with US dollar

d.  Unemployment rate

e.  Types of employment (are most farmers? Industrial country?)

4.  Points of interest

a.  Does your country have anything special???

b.  Tourist attractions??

**You need to cover all of the above on your country.

Visual:

·  You only need to have one of the following but having more than one will be extra credit

1.  Flag-create replica of national flag with a description and an explanation of the meaning of each part

a.  Be creative!!

b.  Cannot be printed from the Internet or a book!

2.  Local food-bring in a sample of local cuisine

a.  You need to bring enough for the entire class to enjoy

b.  Must bring napkins, utensils or whatever else is required

c.  Bring the recipe with you, people may have allergies and need to know what is in your dish

d.  You can find recipes on Culture Grams

3.  National Artifact-bring in an artifact from your country

a.  Should actually be from the country

4.  Poster/collage

a.  Be creative

b.  Full size poster

·  Assigned Date: Friday October 8, 2010

·  Work days: Monday 10-11, Tuesday 10-12 and Wednesday 10-13

·  Presentation Day: Friday October 15, 2010

Presentation:

1.  Present PowerPoint to the class and share any visuals you have

2.  Should last about 2 minutes

3.  DO NOT just read your slides to the class! Choose the most interesting facts and pictures to show us

4.  Your PowerPoint must be saved on your number before you get to class on Friday. You will not be able to use a jump drive, email or get a pass to the media center.

***For everyday late, will loose one letter grade
