Job Holder:

Job Title: Manager, Chapters - the Café in the Close

Staff Manager: Cathedral Administrator

Main Purpose:

A.  To maximise Chapter’s annual profit contribution to the Cathedral

B.  To formulate, and submit , plans for the profitable growth of the business

Key Tasks:

1.  To train, develop and lead the team of Chapters staff and volunteers

2.  To plan menus in conjunction with the Head Chef and maintain appropriate stock levels

3.  To ensure that product and service deliver total customer satisfaction

4.  To ensure strict compliance with health, safety, licensing and employment laws

5.  To assist in the preparation of the budget

6.  To maintain all necessary financial records and controls

7.  To prepare an ongoing calendar of promotional activity to widen and extend Chapters’ customer base

8.  To exploit catering opportunities arising from Cathedral events and functions in the Close

9.  To manage event bookings and undertake invoicing

10.  To keep abreast of trends and developments in the Catering industry

11.  To undertake other reasonable tasks at the request of the Board of Directors

PERSON SPECIFICATION

a)  Proven success in food service management, preferably in a café, pub or restaurant with a function facility

b)  Proven flair and imagination with marketing and merchandising

c)  Committed to achieving the highest food standards

d)  Current Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate

e)  Excellent secondary education with practical attainments, numerate and literate

f)  Excellent organisational and delegation skills

g)  Has lots of drive, energy and determination

h)  Able to relate well to staff and customers

i)  Able to remain calm in a crisis and to resolve complaints

j)  Cheerful, neat and tidy with excellent personal hygiene

k)  Computer and software literate – familiar with EPOS

l)  Practical and hands-on style of working

m)  Personal Licence holder (desirable)

n)  Committed to Cathedral’s ethos, vision and ministry

o)  Formal recognised qualification – preferably diploma level catering / hospitality
