Welcome! Being a new consultant is exciting!!! .....and can sometimes be overwhelming. I find that the more organized I am, the less stressed out I am about everything that I am working to accomplish. This portion of your training is designed to help you organize!

One of Mary Kay Ash’s Favorite Poems
I have a premonition that soars on silver wings.
It is a dream of your accomplishments,
of many wondrous things.
I do not know beneath which sky
or where you’ll challenge fate.
I only know it will be high!
I only know it will be GREAT! ---Anonymous

As you grow your business you are doing so much more than selling a lipstick. You are enriching women’s lives. It is often said that our products change women from the outside in. Our products enhance a woman’s beauty, and that makes her feel beautiful on the inside. Our business changes women from the inside out. Some start the business never having worn makeup, or having a very low self-esteem. But, with training, and practicing skincare classes, they start to see how their business will change their lives, give them choices, a positive atmosphere, training on how to wear our product; and within a few months they are transformed as well. To grow your business, you must be willing to grow yourself. This changes women from the inside out! In all of this process, what you are doing for your business affects the overall growth of our team and unit; every little bit you do contributes!

Ways to Get More Customers

After you have gone through your list of family and friends, we to look at other areas for your business to continue to grow. One way to do that is through Facial Boxes, and there is training for this on Kathy’s Unit net. A facial box is a small decorative paper box placed at a business location for their customers to register to get a free Mary Kay pampering session with some free product. Another way is through warm chattering.

To get names and numbers while you are out and about, make sure first that your hair is slammin’ and your Mary Kay face is on, and you are dressed appropriately if not in heels/skirt. There are many different approaches, try them all and use what you are comfortable with. After you start talking to her, I always ask if she has ever tried Mary Kay before and how long it has been. If never, you know she doesn’t have a consultant. If it has been fairly recent (1-5 years) ask her if she has a consultant that sends her a catalog and regularly works with her. If she does, tell her we operate on the golden rule and wouldn’t want to step on her consultant’s toes. She will understand. What if she doesn’t want to give you her cell, but wants to give her email? Tell her that sometimes it is more convenient for me to have a phone number as well, because I am not always in front of a computer, and ask if it would be okay if I could have her number.

“Has anyone ever asked you to be a Mary Kay face model? You are so sharp, and I would give you a $10 Gift Card for doing it. I’ll call you to set up your appointment. What would be the best way to contact you, would that be a cell phone number?” Give them gift card and get their name as well as number.

Give them a compliment. “Excuse me, has anyone ever given you a Mary Kay gift card? This is good for a pampering session and $10 FREE at your appointment. I’ll call you to set up a time for us to get together. What would be the best way to contact you, would that be a cell phone number?” Get name and number to call to book.

Get a business card ready. Smile at them and say “Would you like a gift certificate?” and hand them the gift card. “This is good for a pampering session and $10 FREE at your appointment. I’ll call you to set up a time for us to get together. What would be the best way to contact you, would that be a cell phone number?”

When you write down her name and phone number, date the piece of paper and write where you were (doctor’s office, Applebees, Target, etc). This way when you call her “Hi X, this is NAME HERE, I gave you my gift card when you were at PLACE and I just wanted to see what your schedule looked like this week or next so we can schedule a time for you to redeem your gift card. (then go into standard booking approach).
