Summary of Experience
I am an experienced evaluation consultant and coach, with close to a decade of experience. My key strength is my large toolbox of methods and approaches. My academic training focused on conducting rigorous impact evaluations, but as a consultant, I have continued to build my expertise in applying other evaluation approaches (i.e. developmental, formative, collective impact, etc). I have used both qualitative and quantitative methods, including advanced statistical methods such as time-series and mixed models.Rather than apply a single approach to every situation, I work with my clients to identify the approach that best meets their needs and context. My many repeat clients demonstrate the quality of my work.
As a consultant, I focus on helping organizations use evaluation to increase their positive social impact. I have acted as both an independent consultant for smaller projects and as a team member for larger evaluations of government programs. My clients come from a wide range of sectors, including education, health, employment, youth development, and crime prevention. I work collaboratively with clients and my network of associates to make connections, build understanding, address emotions, find solutions, and present information to motivatepeople to take action. My time as a pro bono Director of Evaluation provided me with first-hand understanding of the challenges that small non-profits face in conducting evaluation.
As a coach, I provide teaching and guidance to both non-profit professionals and students. I have trained and supported non-profit staff on how develop and apply both developmental and formative evaluation frameworks, including logic models, theories of change, evaluation questions, methods, analysis plans, and evaluation matrixes. Since 2013, I have provided introductory evaluation workshops to post-graduate students and helped them prepare for the Canadian Evaluation Society’s Student Case Competition.
I am committed to providing cutting edge services of the highest standards. I have received the Credentialed Evaluator designation through the Canadian Evaluation Society. I regularly present at the Society’s annual conference and elsewhere. To facilitate learning from my local community of evaluators, I organize Evaluation Cafe Toronto events, where evaluators regularly come together to learn from each other.
