Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Toronto Raptors–Feb. 10, 2016
Timberwolves Interim Head Coach Sam Mitchell
On the game…
“We’ll take it. We beat a good team tonight – probably the team that’s playing the best. We didn’t play with eight guys, but I thought all the guys who played contributed. That starting group played a lot of minutes against a very tough team, a very physical team, but we kept taking the ball to the basket. I think getting to the free-throw line kept us in the game, we made some timely shots and got some good stops.”
On the difference between Monday’s game and tonight’s game…
“It was just one of those nights…. Ask San Antonio, ask teams that are above us when they’ve gotten blown out. It just happens. Everybody understands that. Eight-two games, young group and to their credit, I think we’ve had two games this year where we just didn’t have energy and that New Orleans game overnight was one of those games. I thought tonight we played a very good team with two All-Stars in the backcourt and a very good center. I just thought we played… We just kept pounding, kept fighting, kept trudging. We got some timely stops and I just think we kept taking the ball to the basket and then we made some timely shots. I thought Andrew [Wiggins] down the stretch was great and I thought for the whole game, every minute, Karl [Towns] was out there, especially offensively… I mean, every night he does something that you just don’t realize that he can do. As a coaching staff, we just made up our mind, we’re going to watch and see what he does and we’re going to keep encouraging him because we’re going to keep giving it to him. As long as he shows us he can handle it and can do it, we’re going to let him play.”
