PARSONAGE PONDERINGS

by Suellen Leugers

As we approach our 3rd annual Garden Bazaar, a thought about gardening and gardens comes to mind.

“Why do we garden? We garden because we are created in the image of the Master Gardener, in whose likeness we grow in measure as we garden. We are not only the field that God gardens but his fellow gardeners in the Paradise he is restoring.” Vigen Guroian, The Fragrance of God.

We are approaching summer, although temps the last few days have us wondering. For those of us who garden, we wait for this weather all winter. Many of us start our seeds in preparation to transplant as soon as the danger of frost is over.I have become more interested in gardening the last few years and hope for the right amount of sun and rain this summer to bring forth a bountiful harvest.

Growing flowers and vegetables is much like growing a church. We plant the seeds in people’s hearts, water them with worship, teaching God’s Word, fellowship and prayer. We then anticipate their growth into beautiful and vibrant people of God.We are doing well in growing God’s garden, but there are always more people with whom we can share. As you watch your garden grow this year, consider the people God may ask you to cultivate for his Kingdom here in our community. We always have room for more.
