Refueling your rental car

Whether you use National or Enterprise, the most cost effective option for renters is to return the rental car with a full tank of gas.We ask that all travelers fill up their tanks at a local gas station as this is the most cost effective method.

When time does not permit for refueling prior to returning the car, Enterprise and National will refuel the vehicle, however it will be at a cost of 130% of the local market rate for gallons used. Cars should be full of fuel at the start of each reservation, but keep in mind that if they are not, no refund will be provided for vehicles returned with more fuel than was provided at the origination of the rental. When a vehicle is returned with less than a full tank of gas, the charge will be based upon the fuel tank reading (or mileage if the customer hasn't filled the tank during the rental). For example: if a customer returns a car with a 3/4 tank of gas and the model is listed with a 16-gallon tank capacity, an additional charge for 4 gallons will be assessed.

Travelers are not authorized to use the Fuel Service Option (FSO) as this is not cost effective. With the FSO, National or Enterprise would charge you for a full tank of gas, no matter how much fuel was used during your rental.

Please note: If your rental car did not have a full tank of gas upon the start of your rental, please email SSM CORPORATE TRAVEL and let us know. We would like to know the dates of your reservation along with the location you picked up the vehicle. Since our contract with National and Enterprise requires them to provide a full tank of gas, we will discuss the issue with them.
