SMS PTSA Board Meeting
November 2, 2015
Joanna welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.
Jamie briefly reviewed minutes from October. October minutes were approved via email.
Shelby reviewed the budget and budget concerns/questions.

Shelby brought up questions about NC Sales and Use Tax. She wasn’t sure if we needed to report concessions profit or not so she called. They said we do have to report on all concessions. We have to report income amount. We have a Federal Tax Exemption. Shelby will check on Book Fair to see if it is exempt and if we can get an exemption for NC sales and use.

Hospitality: Bags for September with apples and caramel were given to staff, October they did S’mores. We need desserts for Christmas luncheon on 12/16. We will also need parents to cover duty free lunches for teachers from 10:30-12 or 12-1:30. She is working with Longhorn to cater again.
Dance: We need chaperones for the next dance on 12/11. We also need ideas to get kids there. Maybe some kind of competition? Lazer tag? 3 Point competition?
Community Relations: Hursey’s Night Profit $71.00
He’s checking with Anna Maria’s Pizza for Friday 11/20. He will send details when they get in touch with him.
Spirit Wear: Kim sent a message that we have a few socks of each size left over if anyone wants any. She is thinking about doing winter wear after Christmas. The board agreed we should do it in January.
Box Tops: We got a few thousand Box Tops so it’ll be a couple hundred dollars. We won’t do donuts because the bags have multiple teacher names on them when turned in.
Book Fair: $1722.01 profit & 452.18 in coin wars. She can’t use profit until we find out about sales and use tax. It went very well.
Health Resources: no news
Website: no news other than send Jamie info when you need it updated.
Facebook: send Melissa info when you need something posted.
Fundraising: We need to get the sign-up sheet for basketball going. December 1 is first home game and 12/3 is the next one. We only have 6 home games. We might do nachos for basketball games.
Do we want to do soccer? We can do soccer because it’s boys and girls playing back to back.
Do we want to do a raffle during the games? A 50/50 raffle, signed ball, other prizes?
Joanna suggested we do something for Mr. Ritter for helping us.

VOICE: Melissa can go to the meeting tomorrow. We discussed the new high school will be located between SHS and EHS or SHS and WHS. Either way, it impacts Southern.
