Oak Island Women’s Golf Association
General Meeting
April 22, 2017
I. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at2:01by President, Denise Pacula, following the annual member/member tournament. There were 43 members present.
II. Approval of minutes - January 25, 2017:
A motion was made for approval by Sissy Shortridge and seconded by Mo Stombaugh and the minutes were approved by the members present
III Reports:
- President: Denise Pacula congratulated the winners of today’s member member tournament. They were: 4th place net: Sue Wood and Elizabeth Pollock, 3rd place net: Betty Ingold and Pat Hughes, 2nd net: Michelle Taylor and Joyce Rommel and 1st net with a score of 59 was BrendaSchnell and Janice Rameh.
President Pacula called for reports.
- Vice President: Deb Sullivan encouraged the membership to visit the web site and is open to feedback from any members regarding improvements
- Secretary: Deborah Schoch, no report
- Treasurer: Linda Trent reported at the beginning of the year, 01/01/2017, the club had a balance of $7,227.21; expenses to date for 2017 are $3,032.41, leaving a current balance of $4,194.80.
IV/ Reports of Committees
- Ladybirds: Michelle Taylorstated there were 117 golfers at the March Ladybirds event hosted by Oak Island. The next scheduled Ladybirds is for May 8 and all 11 slots have been filled.
- Publicity: Anita Dubois has reported all play date stats to the Pilot newspaper after being compiled by Sue Wood.
C/D. Sunshine/Member Care: Judy Reid and B.J. Plunkett reported the family of deceased member Joan Van Noordt wasgiven food and support during their grief.
- Birdie Tree:Betty Ingold reported little blue birds are being placed on the board.
- Linksters/Lakes: Cori Booth reported that this past week we won the trophy back from the Lakes and it is in the locker room.
- Social: DeVota Vereen and B.J. Plunkett held the 50/50 raffle and the winners were 3rd place Susan Morrison, 2nd Place Betty Ingold and 1st place Anita DuBois. They asked the committee members to include the social members earlier in the planning stages of the various tournaments, thus giving them an opportunity toprovide input and share ideas.
- Sadie Hawkins: Mo Stombaugh reported the tournament was a success and earned a small profit.
- Member/Member: Today’s event
- Club Championship: The committee is in the beginning stages of planning for this September 16 and 17th event.
- Member/Guest: The committee is in the beginning stages of planning for this September 30th event
- Play Days: Susan Morrison reported play dates are seeing an increase in participation and reminded all to fill out their score cards and place them in the folders. She also reminded the membership that all tournaments count as play days.
- Historian: Sara Burton was not in attendance thus Deb Sullivan reported that Sara has taken photos and they are displayed on the web site.
- Rules: No report
- Memorial Garden: After asking Steve Isley’s permission, Deb Sullivan placed three stepping stones at the memorial garden.
V. Old Business: No report
VI. New Business: The Hope Harbor Tournament is scheduled at Lockwood Folley on August 17th. President Pacula will put the signup sheet in the locker room.
VII. Adjournment:
Denise asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion was made and seconded. All were in favor and the meeting adjourned at 2:35
