PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The role of the Teaching Assistant is to provide high quality support to whomthey are assigned promoting the school vision, ethos and values in all aspects of school life. They are also required to assist teachers in their role, using their experience and expertise to plan interventions and activities with their teacher, and to feedback into the planning process.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Good numeracy and literacy skills – with GCSE in English and Maths of at least grade C
Good communicator
The ability to act and make decisions
Basic understanding of children’s development and learning
Experience of working with children
Willingness to undertake training in relevant learning strategies
Work effectively individually and as part of team
Able to build effective working relationships with pupils and colleagues including those from
outside agencies
Promote positive ethos and be good role model
Liaise sensitively with parents
Work flexibly
Experience of working in a school
Desirable
Knowledge of learning programmes / strategies
Understanding / Knowledge of SEN code of practice
General understanding of national curriculum
Knowledge of inclusion and how it applies in school
NVQ Level 2 for TA or equivalent or a willingness to train for NVQ Level 2
