The Last Few Weeks Have Been Busy with Activities on 18Th Street. the Contractor Is Still

The last few weeks have been busy with activities on 18th Street. The contractor is still moving a lot of dirt…and yes rocks around. Fortunately, we own an extra lot on the South end of the property where we can place these darn rocks. The first utilities are being put in and truckloads of steel have arrived and let me tell you, there are some huge beams amongst them. Wow!!!

The permitting process has been more than challenging. The city is overwhelmed with new buildings and also under staffed.

As a result, and as mentioned earlier, we are lagging behind with our opening date. At this time, it looks like mid to late February 2018. Nothing the architects, the engineers, the contractor or Butch and I can do about it. If you think it is frustrating for you, multiply that by 100 times.

We have some exciting news to share with you. We are hiring Lisa Palcic and Lee Whitwell as Directors & Head Professionals to run both Pickleball Zone and the Bend Pickleball Academy. We are fortunate to have the top 2 Pickleball Instructors in Bend on board. In addition, both have extensive knowledge in running private and semi-private tennis facilities. Both Lisa and Lee will bring exciting programs for members and non-members to the Pickleball Zone. Most of you know Lisa and Lee, but we will add their bios on to the Bend Pickleball Academy section of our website at www.pzbend.com later this week.

We have decided to limit the Charter Memberships to 50 and the Annual Memberships to 62. With 4 member courts set aside every day, all 112 members could play 2 hours per day, seven days per week. If 4 people are out of town you can play another 2 hours!!! LOL

In addition, we lifted the restrictions of how many guests a member can bring in a 30 day period.

We also have decided to raise the Charter Membership as of September 30th from $4,900 to $5,900 and the dues for Annual members from $850 to $980. You, of course, are “grand-fathered in”. There are only 18 Charter Memberships available as of today. If you have signed up for an Annual Membership you might want to consider upgrading to a Charter Membership before Sept 30th, 2017. If you have friends tell them to sign up after September 30th. LOL

While we are not on the “Oregon Trail”, we are definitely “trail blazing”. There is no business model to copy. We are investing huge amounts of money into this facility as we want to build the best indoor facility in the country. Bear with us, as some things will change along the way, but also rest assured that we always will have our members interest at heart.
