The following is a short sheet of important things regarding Patrol Procedures for Instructors:
Certification:
· Upon completion of the Patrol Procedures Instructor Course and/or the Active Shooter Instructor Course in order to receive a Level of instruction, you MUST submit an application to MPTC (Rose Sauvageau) for approval.
· Rose forwards those applications to me for a Level designation. In order to receive a Level, you MUST include documented proof of completion of an Instructor Development Course, whether MPTC or an “approved” alternative.
· Once the above requirement is met, I can then issue a Level of Instruction.
· NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT DOCUMENT AN INSTRUCTOR DELVELOPMENT COURSE ON YOUR APPLICATION, I CANNOT AWARD A LEVEL.
Contracts: Must be submitted PRIOR to services performed for those being paid by the MPTC.
Subject areas and mandated hours:
· Motor Vehicle Stops = 24 hours (8 hours of classroom and 16 hours of practical)
· Patrol Response = 25 hours (breakdown as needed)
· Active Shooter = 24 hours (breakdown as needed)
· Applied Patrol Procedures = 42 hours (2 hours classroom student briefing, 40 hours scenarios)
· LLAST (Less Lethal Applied Simulation Training) = 4 hours (student classroom briefing)
Total hours is 119 hours these hours cannot be overlapped or combined, (i.e., utilize 8 hours for Motor Vehicle Stops and Patrol Procedures and counting as 8 hours for each.)
Required:
· Notification of class schedules – this applies to all classes, (Motor Vehicle Stops, Patrol Response, APP, LLAST, Active Shooter). This must be done PRIOR to their taking place. (Program Info Form). This is for the purposes of monitoring Instructors to ensure compliance with Lesson Plan. Need dates, times, and locations.
· Submission of completed Test Scenarios Cover Sheet. (Patrol Procedures Test Scenario Score Record)
· Instructor Re-certification log sheet. This will be submitted for re-certification for all Level 2 and 3’s. (Re-certification Record Form)
The forms for the above are on the Instructor CD provided at the recent Patrol Procedure Instructor courses offered.
