Welcome to Kindergarten!!

Hello and Welcome to Kindergarten! This will be a very exciting time for you and your Kindergarten student. As the new school year gets underway it can be a very overwhelming occasion for a family. Therefore, we would like to take this time to introduce ourselves. We are Mrs. Warren and Mrs. Saunders and we are thrilled to be teaching your little ones in the near future. We are excited to be working with your child this year and helping him/her to achieve his/her full potential. Throughout the remainder of this letter, we will share some information and classroom policies.

Parent/Teacher Relationship

A good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year we will communicate with you as much as possible. Students will have aclass-folder in which we will put any notes or reminders as well as all of your student’s work. Thisfolder is to be returned each day and you may also use it to send in any notes as well. We encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. You can send a note, call the school, or email (, , )

School Attendance

Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. We can’t emphasize this point enough!!! Most kindergarten learning activities are group oriented and involve interaction with classmates. Therefore, it is next to impossible to make up work at home. Please view school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends everyday except in cases of illness or emergency. If your child is going to be absent please call Robert Gordon School at (908) 245-2285.

Money

On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school. Always send money in a sealed envelope with the following information written on it:

1. Your child’s first and last name.

2. The amount of money.

3. The purpose for the money (book fair money, picture money, etc.).

4. The teacher’s name.

Birthdays

Birthdays are special occasions for young children. If your child wishes, he/she may bring treats for the class on his/her birthday. Please send a note at least two days in advance so we can give you an exact number of children in the class, set aside some class time for the party, and inform the school nurse due to classroom allergies.

Class Supplies

We ask that each child bring in a few supplies that should last the entire school year. We ask that they bring these things in for the first week of school with your child's' name on them. They are:

2 container of baby wipes

1 two-pack of thick tip expo markers

1 Pack of Play-Doh

A backpack with their name on the inside, big enough to fit their class folder

A lunch bag for lunch and snack

3 packs of glue sticks

A 32 count box of Crayola crayons

1 pack of #2 pencils

3 boxes of tissues

1 hand towel

1 box of sandwich ziplock bags

1 pair of plain, black headphones

Lunch/Snack

The students will have a morning snack and a lunch daily. Each child is to bring a healthy lunch and a separately packed snack each day. They may also choose to purchase lunch. Monthly lunch calendars will be sent home before the first day of each month. If your child is purchasing lunch, please be sure to review the choice with your child before coming to school so that when asked, they know what they are buying. Their separately packed, morning snack should take no more than 10 minutes to eat. Please check and clean out your child's lunch box each day.

In closing, we would just like to say that we are looking forward to a great year of working with your child! We would also like to suggest that you save this letter for future reference. Thank you in advance for your concern and support throughout the year!!! Have a great summer and see you in September!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Warren, Mrs. Saunders & Mrs. Guarino
