Accounts Assistant Advert – Lewis-Manning Trust

Lewis-Manning Hospice is already well known locally as a centre offering excellent palliative care to local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their carers, and we have recently opened our brand-new state of the art in-patient unit for end of life care, for patients in Dorset. We passionately believe in treating every person and every day as special, ensuring that each individual person knows they matter.

This not only applies to our patients but our staff as well, and as the Hospice embarks on this exciting journey we are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team.

This key role assists the Finance Manager in all areas of the Department using the Iris Accounts package. Primarily this role is responsible for collating and balancing our Retail Operations takings and producing accurate and informative spreadsheets on a weekly basis.

Some other duties include:

·  Inputting and processing of invoices

·  Monthly bank reconciliations

·  Purchase Ledger; Processing invoices, distributing for authorisation, coding, resolving any supplier queries either by telephone or email

·  Collate, enter and reconcile all Lottery payments received into the Lottery Software on a weekly

·  Produce accurate reports on Retail, Lottery and Trust Monies In for the CEO, Operations Director and Finance Manager on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis

·  Assisting with VAT reconciliation

·  Maintaining the Finance Filing System

This role is ideal for someone who is currently working towards or keen to start studying for their AAT qualification and is looking to gain further practical experience in an accountancy environment.

You will need to have experience working with financial data, be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel and have a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

Ideally you would need to have at least one years’ experience working in a similar role but this is not essential. More importantly we are looking for someone who has excellent attention to detail, has knowledge (and experience) of computerised accounts systems and a genuine interest in acquiring new skills and developing themselves professionally. You will be an analytical thinker who is comfortable working in a demanding environment with exceptional planning and organisation skills.
