Role Synopsis / We are offering an excellent career opportunity to fill a key position within the finance team of Assurant Solutions Europe. The role will be suited to an individual with strong financial accounting skills and the ambition to develop and drive the department forward.
Assurant Inc. are a US owned global insurance group listed on the NYSE. The role sits within Assurant Solutions Europe division - based from the Crewe HQ, with European offices in London, Madrid, Milan, Marseille and Frankfurt. The finance team in Crewe are a 50 strong team tasked with supporting the ambitious growth plans of the wider European business whilst maintaining strong and compliant statutory, regulatory, internal reporting into our US parent. Across Europe the 20 legal entities that combine to create the group generate a turnover/premium of circa £400m and employ 1500 people.
Role Purpose / Working alongside the Financial Controller and cross functionally within a the financial control, group reporting, regulatory and commercial finance teams to develop and deliver robust and insightful management accounts and balance sheet control whilst supporting the wider business to deliver MI and financial support the control of the business cost base.
Role Requirements / §  Qualified accountant
§  Demonstrable financial accounting knowledge and skills
§  Experience within a large blue chip environment would be advantageous
§  Excellent system skills ( inc. Excel)
§  Strong management skills and a desire to develop people.
Key deliverables / §  High quality management accounts production
§  Statutory accounting duties/preparation (audit facing role)
§  Managing the nominal ledger and Balance sheets ( to
Technical Standards) for European Entities.
§  Play a key role in group legal restructure in 2015
§  Robust expense analytics and involvement in forecast process
§  Management of Ledger Staff, Graduate Accountants and a qualified Accountant.
§  Maintaining the integrity of financial transactions to SOX and internal control frameworks ( Inc FCA/Solvency II)
§  VAT returns and control improvements
§  Ownership of Intercompany reconciliations and payments process
§  Gain and understanding of US GAAP to aid financial review cycle.
§  Development of balance sheet controls analytics adding insight for senior management.
§  Management of insurance technical accounts.
§  Maintenance of Multi-dimensional postings.
§  Identification and implementation of efficiency improvements
§  Ad hoc project work
