Dear Sir or Madam:
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is comprised of the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities at The Ohio State University. The purpose of the NPHC is to perpetuate constructive fraternity and sorority relationships, to foster an understanding of the structure and method of operation among affiliate organizations and to address, coordinate, and develop public service, educational programs, and social events for the campus and local communities.
NPHC is cognizant of the great challenges students of African decent endure throughout their matriculation at Ohio State. As a result, the NPHC, the Frank W. Hale, Jr. Black Cultural Center and Multicultural Center will sponsor its 17th Annual African American Farewell Celebration to acknowledge and to celebrate those students who will be graduating Spring or Summer 2009, or who have graduated in the Fall of 2008 or Winter 2009, through a personalized “graduation ceremony.”
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 13th, 2009, at 4:00pm Hitchcock Auditorium. A rehearsal will be held on Friday, June 5th, 2009 at 5:00 pm Hitchcock. A reception sponsored by National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center will immediately follow the ceremony at the Hale Center.
NPHC invites you to participate in this celebration of your accomplishments. In an effort to make this event bigger and better than ever before, we request a participation fee of $10.00 per graduate. This ten-dollar fee will assist the NPHC in purchasing Kente Cloth graduation stoles for each participant. Please keep this letter for your records. Please fill out the attached forms and return them and any accompanying fees to The Office of Student Activities in the Ohio Union (at the Ohio Stadium between gates 22 and 24) by Friday, May 29th, to ensure your participation.
This event does not verify graduation. All students must comply with university guidelines to receive degrees. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact Anna-Stacia Allen, student chair at or Sharrell Hassell-Goodman, Coordinator Sorority and Fraternity Life, at or (614) 247-8609.
Sincerely,
Anna-Stacia Allen
